Join our team to help us save the lives of cats and kittens! The Adoption Counselor will help us select the best home possible for each of our available cats and kittens so we can continue rescuing and placing more. Training will be provided by current Adoption Counselors. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to: Log application into a shared spreadsheet. Review application and contact applicant to schedule an interview. A key part of the interview is counseling applicants on how to introduce new pets to existing pets, introducing adoptees to a new home environment, what to expect when bringing a new cat home - all of which is essential for setting up the adoption for success. Approve or disapprove the application and adoption. Work with the appropriate team(s) to arrange transfer of the cat, documents, microchip, and adoption packet. Ensure receipt of Adoption Agreement and adoption fee payment. Qualifications: Attend PZ Orientation and Trainings. Time commitment is 15-20 hours/month but may fluctuate based on the number of cats in care and the number of applications received. Demonstrated ability to communicate with clarity, brevity, friendliness, and respect. Demonstrated ability to ask questions and relay information with ease. Ability to ask sometimes uncomfortable questions, depending on the application or where the conversation goes. Ability and enthusiasm for educating others on various aspects of cat care, including nutrition, proper equipment, and other relevant topics. Demonstrated responsiveness and reliability. Able to respond to new adoption applications within 72 hours. Possess computer and mobile phone access. Familiarity with Excel and Google Drive or ability to learn. Ability to work independently and as a team player. Ability to manage multiple, shifting priorities under tight deadlines. FUND RAISING MANAGER The Peter Zippi Memorial Fund (PZ) was established in 1977 and is a non-profit 501(3)(c) animal welfare organization. We are focused on cat rescue and spay/neuter assistance and have a small shelter space located in Hermosa Beach, CA. PZ is an NKLA Coalition Partner and a Best Friends Animal Society Network Partner. We receive no government funding and are supported almost entirely by volunteers and fundraising efforts. We are looking for a Volunteer Fundraising Manager to assist with event planning, even management, and spearhead marketing efforts to bolster fundraising. This volunteer position can be performed virtually but will require attendance at some events as needed. Tasks will include but are not limited to reaching out to sponsors and donors, maintaining a donor database, accurately describing PZ’s mission to the community, event planning in coordination with the President and Social Media Manager, and planning and managing fresh marketing efforts. This position does not require direct contact with the cats, but all volunteers are encouraged to visit the cats and kittens; they are truly inspirational to us all! A list of expected activities includes the following: Annual Print Newsletter Annual Open House or Alternate Event (always early November) Quarterly Digital Newsletter Quarterly Facebook Fundraiser Campaign in collaboration with the Social Media Manager. The Volunteer Manager oversees cat care coverage and ensures quality care by coordinating volunteers. Responsibilities include recruiting and assessing applicants, conducting interviews and reference checks, facilitating training, assigning shifts, and integrating volunteers into the team. Major duties/responsibilities: Recruitment: Proactively recruit and attract potential volunteers by utilizing various channels including VolunteerMatch. Conduct interviews and reference checks to assess the suitability of applicants. Review all volunteer applications, conduct brief phone contact and if qualified schedule in person interview. Training and Onboarding: Facilitate training for volunteers, equipping them with the necessary knowledge and skills to fulfill their roles. Ensure smooth integration of new volunteers into the team. Provide Orientation: PZ history, Mission, tour of facility, Q & A, and education about collaborative approach to meet cat care needs, both physical and emotional. Assign shifts for new volunteers. Provide ongoing assessment of new and seasoned volunteers to ensure they continue to be a good fit, are content with activities and connected to mission and peers. Shift Management: Coordinate and assign volunteer shifts to ensure proper coverage for cat care activities, such as feeding, cleaning, socialization, and enrichment. Maintain a well-structured schedule that meets the needs of the organization and provides a positive volunteer experience. Facilitate shift changes for all volunteers as needed. Maintain Volunteer Daily Shift Schedule . Maintain Shift Coverage spreadsheet while working to ensure adequate cat care coverage for volunteer sick time, and vacations. Confirm VCA Coast holiday closures and PZ shift coverage utilizing holiday hours of 8am to 11am and 3pm to 5pm. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of volunteer information, including contact details, availability, and assigned responsibilities. Maintain volunteer application files, with appropriate Cat Care Procedure and Liability Waiver Forms, signed and dated. Provide updated written documentation for Policy and Procedure Manual. Prepare and Distribute Annual Deep Clean Schedules. Maintain an updated Roster of Volunteers including Board of Directors and foster care volunteers. Collaborate with the Director and the Assistant Shelter Manager to provide a monthly "Zippi Digest" that focuses on changes and / or improvements in cat care. Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry best practices in volunteer management and implement innovative strategies to enhance the volunteer program. Seek feedback from volunteers and stakeholders to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary changes. Provide written letters and/or recommendations, if requested Provide Official Name Badge when Volunteer has proven their commitment to a long-term relationship Other: per requests from Director Qualifications: Ability to communicate verbally and in written form, document and follow-up with Volunteers, Staff, and others. Join our cat loving rescue and adoption group by helping with further development of social media activities, engaging with audiences on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter and overseeing all social media postings. The Social Media Coordinator would be responsible for creating content to be approved by the President, reply to comments, messages, and other notifications and work cooperatively with other volunteers to create engaging content. Qualifications: Possess a strong understanding of various social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube. Experience and education in Social Media Management. Ability to create high-quality written and visual content. Interest in Animal Rescue. Minimum of 15 hours per week of volunteer time.
