Mission Statement
The New York Genealogical and Biographical Society (NYG&B) preserves, documents, and shares the stories of families across the state of New York. We engage with genealogists, biographers, historians, and organizations to establish the broader contexts of New York’s past. The NYG&B actively fosters connections between New York’s past and the present.
Description
As a membership organization, the NYG&B welcomes anyone with an interest in researching their personal family history or the family histories of others. A not-for-profit organization with tax exempt status, gifts to the NYG&B are tax deductible.
Our headquarters are located in New York City with a professional staff and a dedicated group of volunteers. We are governed by a distinguished Board of Trustees who serve voluntarily and contribute generously to our mission.
