Hours Needed 11:30am-4:30pm Tuesday, 11:30am-4:30pm Thursday, and 9:00am-3:00pm Saturday Ideally you will be available twice a month. **We do not participate in the Court Community Service Program** General Duties Participate in building strong and trusting relationships with clients; Approach clients, volunteers and staff with a friendly, non-judgmental attitude; Remain flexible in a team-based, fast-paced, ever-changing environment; Pay attention to detail and complete tasks thoroughly; and Show compassion and kindness towards our clients who come from diverse racial, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. Specific Duties Bag pet food and cat litter; Restock the retail area with merchandise; Keep the Resource Center neat and clean; Provide pet food assistance; Check out clients and their purchases (cashier); Other duties as assigned. Skills and Qualifications Basic companion animal knowledge Previous retail or customer service experience preferred Previous cash handling experience preferred Previous experience interacting with underserved populations preferred Previous social service background preferred Willing to adhere to volunteer expectations and practices as set forth in the Neighborhood Pets Volunteer Expectations and Accountability Policy Must be at least 21 years old to volunteer

Specific Duties Assist with animal restraint, vaccinations, minor medical treatment and other pet- focused wellness tasks Complete paperwork Explain services and pricing to clients Skills and Qualifications Experience working as a vet tech or vet assistant at a vet clinic or animal shelter, or currently enrolled in a vet assistant or tech program required; RVTs will lab experience also welcome Experience working or volunteering at a shelter or outreach event is helpful Use of positive-reinforcement techniques Use of safe handling and fear free handling techniques

Hours Needed 10am-4pm Tuesday-Friday (minimum of 2 hours within this timeframe) Minimum of two shifts per month is ideal to stay current on training, but we can be flexible. Specific Duties Assist with specialized administrative tasks in consultation with staff Tasks for this volunteer position could include answering the phone, completing inventory, making vaccination clinic folders, making reminder phone calls, filling out reminder letters and post cards, data entry, filing and/or other special projects assigned by staff. Skills Required Previous experience interacting with underserved populations preferred Experience and comfort with Microsoft Word and Excel; Google Drive/Sheets/Docs; technical aptitude. Experience with Salesforce helpful, but can train Must be able to demonstrate proficiency for tasks involving the computer. Typing ability of at least 30 WPM (for tasks involving the computer). Strong attention to detail required Willing to adhere to volunteer expectations and practices as set forth in the Neighborhood Pets Volunteer Expectations and Accountability Policy

We do this by providing access to affordable pet care, resources, information and other supportive services. Description
Neighborhood Pets is a community-based non-profit 501(c)3 organization that cares about people and the animals they love. Neighborhood Pets provides low cost wellness care, a free spay/neuter program, a pet food bank, veterinary care assistance, low cost pet supplies, counseling and other resources to the people we serve. Lack of access to affordable pet care resources is a social justice issue. We believe all pet owners, regardless of income level, should have access to affordable resources in order to care for and keep their pet(s). At Neighborhood Pets, the focus is on people and building a community. The organization has received considerable national attention for its innovative and relationship-based approach that values the person as much as the pets. Clients are treated with respect, kindness and without judgement. We seek to earn and keep the trust of those we are serve. Our accessible Slavic Village location speaks to our commitment to build and be of our community.
