There are an estimated 48.9 million people living with disabilities in the United States, many of them want to live a productive life. We believe that each person is unique with their own talents, and are committed to helping these individuals live a meaningful life that is filled with happiness, experiences and opportunities.

Living Beyond Boundaries,INC., a nonprofit organization in the Bay Area, is dedicated to empowering the lives of individuals with disabilities nationwide. In fact, most of the board of directors and volunteers are members with a disability. They are all ordinary individuals, living their daily lives while fighting to overcome their disabilities; but together, they are a group of extraordinary leaders fighting for the disabled community's rights and for a better future.

LBB sends out an email stating that new volunteers must learn 19 Google applications like Docs and Calendar in the next week, even before their references are checked and they are interviewed. Their entire volunteer onboarding process once accepted is complicated. In one instance, there was an at least fifteen item form where I had to self rank myself in terms of employment attributes. I found this similar to filling out an income tax form because I couldn't account for special situations. I was also required to fill out a form where I could specify the number of hours I wanted to volunteer per week for the next month (1-5,5-10,10+). I put down 1-5 hours, but in a few days after I was accepted to the writer position, I got an email saying that I had to sign a contract to work a minimum of 10 hours a week. The ad posted on volunteermatch for the writer position says "flexible", which is misleading. When I confronted LBB about everything, they said "some get it, some don't"
