I started my summer internship with the Take Back the Night Foundation in May, and it has been a truly enriching and transformative experience. From the very beginning, I was welcomed into a supportive and dynamic environment where I had the opportunity to connect with incredible people dedicated to creating meaningful change. One of the most significant aspects of my internship was the chance to focus on topics that resonated deeply with me.

While I am a newer volunteer, I appreciate how organized and communicative the team is. I work on the social media team where I get to create clips for the Dear Katie: Survivor Stories Podcast. I like that my work is making a difference and creating more awareness for those that need the support and resource. I'm grateful to be doing work that is making an impact and helping me along my personal journey as well.

Not only does this organization have an urgent and vital mission, the senior leadership also ensures that every volunteer is empowered to mobilize their strengths and skillsets to contribute to a greater cause. Volunteers can work on numerous assignments, ranging from outreach to college campuses all across the country, to assisting in the production of a podcast that amplifies survivors' voices, and many more. Work at the TBTNF is incredibly versatile and worthwhile.

My decision to join Take Back The Night was deeply influenced by the survivors I met at the University of Oregon event. Their stories inspired me to take on a mission- to be a strong advocate for each survivor. I believe that every story is significant, and I am eager to learn from TBTN how to empower survivors to share their experiences with the world because their stories matter. I am committed to this cause, as well as to being a supportive listener and advocate for survivors.

The Take Back The Night volunteer team is made up of dedicated change-makers who welcome and empower each individual in their network. As a volunteer, you are supported and encouraged to participate in a wide range of projects in a virtual setting. I can not speak highly enough of this organization. Volunteer tasks are personalized - you get to work on teams closely pertaining to your interests. The tasks challenge you daily and teach you new skills. The atmosphere is warm and collaborative, and my favorite part is seeing the tremendous impacts our work has.

Take Back the Night Foundation provides you with infinite opportunities to get involved in your areas of strength. There are also plenty of opportunities to develop different strengths with the help of founder Kaite Koestner's mentorship. TBTNF is a place where you get directly involved in the movement against sexual assault in a hands-on and meaningful way. You will have the opportunity to help design toolkits for high school chapters, develop an internationally observed newsletter, work on Katie Koestner's podcast "Dear Katie," and more!

This organization is very on top of things. It's a wonderful team and provides so many opportunities for volunteers such as myself to help make a difference!

I originally was introduced to the foundation while trying to collaborate with them to introduce self-defense seminars to my community, and the dedication and hard work all the volunteers displayed inspired me to join the organization. This is such an amazing and unique volunteering opportunity where you are given the ability to work alongside people from all ages and walks-of-life. It was incredible to see how tight-knit the foundation is, especially the founder Katie Koestner who has offered multiple times to work one-on-one with volunteers, but also the assistant director Sarah Stuparits and assistant director Amy Tilton who are always willing to aid and help out volunteers by any means.

This organization is filled with the most genuine, helpful, and amazing people I've come across as my career as a volunteer. Being a part of this community has filled me with nothing but gratefulness, and it has led to me to better understanding mechanisms of society of around me, and how I myself can take part in them to change our communities for the better.

I absolutely love volunteering with TBTNF! I've been an active volunteer for 3 years and have learned so many skills. I have gained valuable tech skills like Salesforce, Wordpress, Zapier, and more. And I have had opportunities to manage and MC events, connect with interesting people and famous celebrities, support event holders, create social media content, and so many other cool projects. Plus the volunteer team meets weekly, which really helps me feel supported, and I love getting to know so many other passionate and talented volunteers.

Volunteering at TBTNF was one of the most holistic experiences. They offer various opportunities allowing you to approach ending sexual violence with interdisciplinary perspectives. Even more rewarding was the people in the org. From the start, I've had the opportunity to interact directly with the senior directors, including the founder Katie Koestner herself. Under their mentorship, I became a more effective leader and advocate dedicated to promoting inclusion. I also gained more insights into marketing and publicizing, which I otherwise wouldn’t have known given my STEM background. Their patience, support, and constructive criticism have shaped me into a better leader. More importantly, they believed in my potential and offered me the space to lead projects my own way. This really is a one-of-a-kind experience. If you're hoping to change communities for the better while developing leadership skills, join TBTNF!

Assisting TBTN Foundation on developing Health & Wellness curriculum for youth/college students has been a great experience! The team leads on the project are very organized and supportive. They engaged me as I worked on my portion, but didn’t hassle me. I thoroughly enjoy working with them. It is nice to be able to able to help them with their mission.

Working with Katie and her amazing team has been the most rewarding and fulfilling volunteering experience. What differentiates this organization from others that I've volunteered with is how organized and thoughtful the whole experience is. Katie & her team take time to meet with volunteers on a weekly basis to guide and brainstorm on topics/ideas. There's a very helpful Slack channel that encourages interaction between volunteers and Katie's team. I love the interactive engagement of this virtual experience and have gained so much knowledge from writing curricula and researching resources for a variety of hot button topics so relevant to our youth. A big shout out to Jessica, Nicole, and Annie who are always eager to help as our project managers. I'm so grateful for the opportunity to volunteer at TBTN and would definitely recommend it to others.

I honestly had no idea what expect with a virtual volunteer opportunity, but this has been great! The project instructions are well-laid out, and the staff is quick to respond to any questions. There are numerous opportunities available to people with varying time commitments and interests. I would definitely recommend this opportunity to others.

Katie and her Team are given me the opportunity to practically exercise my acquired Salesforce and Business skills. I am grateful to be able to help "Take Back The Night" during this transition. And this might be a long therm engagement, if need be!
