Looking for a way to serve and lead in your community? Become a Veteran Food Distribution Team Leader and help serve our veteran community! Soldiers’ Angels, a national non-profit that is committed to supporting our military communities, is looking for a Veteran Food Distribution Team Leader for our monthly giving of groceries to at-need veterans in the San Antonio area. The Veteran Food Distribution Team Leader is a volunteer who is responsible for organizing and overseeing their assigned section during the local VFD. The Leader will brief all section volunteers, help unload the food truck, oversee the packing of the food items, and clean up. We also ask the Leaders to help Soldiers’ Angels VA Representative with recruiting and overseeing all volunteers in their section. If you have a love for Veterans and event management, while possessing excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills, and the ability to work with a diverse variety of individuals, then we are looking for your help! Do you have a Green Thumb and enjoy working in the garden for Plant Therapy? Are you detail oriented? Then you might be a great fit for this role! We provide a Garden for patients at the Poly trauma Transitional Rehab Program and need your expertise! Project Planning and Coordination Assist in planning garden projects, timelines, and budgets. Coordinate with stakeholders and organize meetings. Volunteer Management Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers. Manage volunteer schedules and maintain a database. Garden Maintenance and Operations Oversee daily garden operations (planting, watering, weeding, harvesting). Manage gardening supplies and equipment inventory. Community Engagement Promote the garden project through outreach and events. Build relationships with community members and organizations. Administrative Support Maintain project records and financial reports. Assist in grant applications and handle project communications. Educational Activities Develop and deliver gardening training and educational materials. Support participants and volunteers in improving gardening skills. Health and Safety Enforce garden health and safety protocols. Train on safe gardening practices. All of these duties will be shared with the Garden Project Coordinator. We prefer someone who has gardening experience, but we are willing to train too. Time Committment: 5-10 hours a week Age Requirements: 18 years and older. Join Soldiers' Angels Garden Project team at the VA's Polytrauma Transitional Rehab facility! We need help watering and picking any vegetables that might be ready to pick. If you sign up for a shift and need some flexibility in the time, just note it in the comments. As long as we get there once a day between the hours of 6:30 am - 7:00 pm, we are good! BE SURE TO LET US KNOW IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO MAKE IT TO YOUR SHIFT, we need to be able to get someone else to water if you can not.
