HAYLO, Helping a youth leap forward, is a mentoring program that serves youths from E. African, Burmese, and Hispanic populations. Mentors can become a lasting positive influence on these youths just by being present in their lives and participating and engaging in fun community activities.

Mentor training and support is provided. If you see yourself enjoying helping an immigrant youth, learning about a different culture, and exploring your skills please contact us. We would love to meet with you and give you more information on this project.

Description

New Youth Perspectives (NYP) is Lutheran Community Services Northwest's (LCSNW) YOUTH MENTORSHIP program granted by a United Way Community Impact Partner.

NYP, a collaborative program between LCSNW and Russian Oregon Social Services (ROSS), aims to provide refugee and immigrant youth with a comprehensive culturally and linguistically appropriate mentoring services, designed to improve engagement in school and community, parenting skills of parents of participants, and increase communication regarding cultural barriers between families and community organizations.
