READ THIS FIRST: Do not check that you are interested through this website. Responses on this website are not checked frequently. If you are interested in this opportunity, please go to https://portal.wildliferescueleague.org/volunteer_questionnaire/ and submit the questionnaire. You must be 18 years of age for this volunteer position and live in Northern Virginia, surrounding counties, or Washington D.C.
Wildlife Rescue League is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization based in Northern Virginia and surrounding counties, whose mission is to support the rehabilitation of sick, injured, and orphaned wildlife and, through education, to foster the appreciation of our wild neighbors.
If you are interested in working with sick, injured and orphaned wildlife, and have a lot of free time to care for wildlife in the spring, summer, and fall, this position is for you! Wildlife rehabilitators work in their own homes taking care of wildlife with the goal of releasing them back into their native habitats. Thus you need a room that can be dedicated to wildlife intake. A 2-year initial apprenticeship and Virginia state permit is required, as well as 6 hours of continuing education a year. Training is provided.
We are in need of volunteers who would like to work with orphan squirrels, cottontails, and opposums. We also seek those who have or are willing to get preexposure rabies vaccines to work with raccoons and foxes.
Please go to the following location to complete your volunteer application: https://www.wildliferescueleague.org/support-us/volunteer/
Our volunteer coordinator will respond shortly.
Thank you for your interest in wildlife!
