Meal time is a special event for all families. It's a time to share stories from our day, reconnect to each other, and make memories. You can help create that experience by sponsoring a meal for 30 moms, dads, and kids who are staying at the Family Village shelter. Because meal providers purchase all ingredients, this volunteer position is also a financial contribution. We rely on the generosity of our community to keep families well-fed and nourished! There are three different types of meals you can participate in:
- Brunch - Sat, drop off between 9:30-10:30am
- Dinner - Sat or Sun, drop off between 4-6pm
- Sack Lunches - Sun, drop off between 9-11am
For brunch and dinner, p repare a home cooked meal, pick out your favorites at Costco, or have it catered. We request 30 hearty servings. Or, for our ambitious volunteers, you can double that and do 60 servings. The meal is delivered hot and ready to eat on your scheduled day and is accepted by staff to be transported to the kitchen for service.
For sack lunches, assemble 30 lunches and include the classics: 15 Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and 15 meat and cheese sandwiches. Additional lunch snacks to include are: fruit or a fruit cup, chips or crackers, and/or a cookie or granola bar. The 30 sack lunches are delivered on your scheduled day.
If you become a registered volunteer you can also cook and serve the meal right from our kitchen!

Mission Statement
Path Home empowers homeless families with children to get back into housing and to stay there.
Description
Path Home is a non-profit that operates our 24-hour Family Village shelter for families with children. Path Home began at First United Methodist Church in 1994, as one of the few family shelters in the Portland metro area that allows homeless families to stay together while living in a temporary shelter.
Families staying at the shelter are provided a light breakfast, lunch, and an evening meal. They have access to a caseworker, internet, showers, laundry facilities, bedrooms, and constructive activities for kids. Thanks to many donations received throughout the year, we maintain a supply room of personal toiletry items for shelter families.
People from many faiths and traditions, community organizations, businesses and from the secular community, serve as volunteers. Path Home relies on the services of numerous volunteers each day all year round. Volunteers prepare and serve the evening meal, set out lunch, provide activities for children, facilitate homework help and preschool activities, and serve as overall helping hands.
