Are you interested in supporting and making a difference for the nearly 1700 foster children and youth in care in St. Louis? Join CASA of St. Louis!
Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) have the opportunity to be an advocate for a foster child’s best interest and provide them an independent voice for the duration of the time they are in care. CASA volunteers spend time with the child(ren) and gather information from others involved in their lives (teachers, foster parents, doctors, etc) in order to make recommendations to the judge and other team members as to what best serves the child. Children who are served by a CASA are more likely to have a plan for permanency, perform better in school, will have more services ordered, and spend less time in foster care than children not supported by a CASA. You could be that stepping stone in changing the outcome!
As a CASA volunteer you will receive pre-service and continuing education training and will be supported by a professional supervisor skilled in child welfare to guide you. CASA volunteers come from all walks of life and no special education or experience is required. You have the opportunity to be part of a dedicated volunteer corps that serve as sworn officers of the court!

Mission Statement
CASA of St. Louis engages highly trained volunteers to provide best-interest court and community-based advocacy for children in the foster care system due to abuse and neglect.
Description
CASA of St. Louis helps children in foster care and their families. We recruit, train, and support community members who serve as Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA volunteers) for children in foster care and under the jurisdiction of St. Louis City and St. Louis County Family Courts. Through dedicated, specialized advocacy we connect children and families with essential resources, ensure family connections are maintained, and monitor court-ordered service plans to achieve permanency in a safe, loving home.
On average, a child in foster care in St. Louis changes placement four times over thirty-two months before placement in a safe, permanent home. The child’s CASA volunteer stays with them through the entire process.
CASA of St. Louis is a member of the Missouri and National CASA Associations, and the United Way.
