Description:
St. Francis Healthcare System of Hawaii is one of the largest providers of care options for seniors and caregivers in the Islands. Our hospice program is the largest department within the St. Francis Healthcare System and has a need for volunteers who are willing to provide companionship or respite for patients. Volunteers visit hospice patients at our inpatient unit, in nursing facilities and/or patient homes. Volunteer greeters also assist visitors to our inpatient unit. Some volunteers choose to help with one activity, some choose a couple of activities and some choose to help with them all. We work with your availability. We are also looking for volunteers willing to share talents such as perform music, healing touch, certified pet therapy, or licensed massage therapy or haircuts.
This is a great opportunity for students looking for healthcare experience and for seniors and retirees who want to give back to their community.
Training is convenient to your schedule too. In addition to online training that you can complete at home, we host a short orientation where we discuss the legacy of St. Francis, review our policies and procedures, and the protocol for visiting patients. To qualify, all volunteers are required to provide TB clearance and proof of COVID-19 vaccination. You must also pass a background and personal reference check. Getting started is easy. Contact us today to find out more information. Description
Requirements: HOSPICE VOLUNTEERS - St. Francis Hospice was the first hospice program in Hawaii, and is the largest service area within the St. Francis Healthcare System. We are looking for volunteers who feel the calling and privilege to help their community. We have many settings available and will work with your schedule. Training is partially online from the comfort of your own home and a 4-hour in-person training orientation every couple of months. For students, this is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in a healthcare system but still have flexibility for work and studies. For seniors and retirees, this you can donate as many hours as you feel called to give. Our seniors enjoy giving back to the community and being part of our St. Francis Ohana.
