Porterville Public Library, Read to Succeed Adult Literacy program, provides free tutoring for adults who want to improve their basic reading and writing skills. No teaching experience is required.
Staff will train volunteers to be effective tutors. The tutors will receive free training materials.
Porterville Read to Succeed assesses learners to identify their own individual personalized curriculum.
The tutoring hours are flexible and each tutor/learner team is able to meet at the library.

Description
Volunteers are important partners in the Porterville City Library's mission to provide patrons with knowledge and information that support lifelong learning.
Supervised by Library staff, volunteers work with patrons and help with special projects and community events.
People who are at least 18 years old are encouraged to volunteer at the Porterville City Library.
