Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapies
in the Pool.
The physical capabilities of water to both assist and resist movement make aquatic therapy an excellent way to improve independent function.
Exercise in water can be used to strengthen weak muscles, relax tight muscles, and improve body awareness, coordination, respiration, oral-motor control, and functional communication.
Children with sensory-processing impairments
experience a calming, organizing effect from exercise in water.
Children undergoing orthopedic surgery have a quicker return of movement and function when exercising with the support of water.
