Volunteers assist with worship services on Friday afternoons from 1:30 to 3:30 PM and Sat. mornings from 8:45 -11:45 AM. Volunteers work with residents who need individual assistance during service to find pages in the prayer book, coming forward for an "honor" during the service, putting on a prayer shawl (tallit)-or who would especially benefit from having company during the service. Volunteers who are familiar with Jewish worship, or who are open to participation in the worship, can discuss with the rabbi the various roles they may take-for example, singing or leading a prayer. One of the most important services a volunteer can perform is to encourage residents to participate in some way-to speak up during discussion, to sing, to read aloud, to accept an honor during the reading of the Torah.

Since 1871, operated by a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, we have served approximately 1,800 patients and residents each year in our Jewish Home & Rehab Center, located on the nine-acre San Francisco Campus for Jewish Living. Non-residential care is offered through our short-term and rehabilitation services unit for patients who require geriatric-specialized, interdisciplinary rehabilitation to recover from surgery or an acute illness, and through our acute geriatric psychiatry hospital. We are affiliated with the University of California, San Francisco for teaching and research. Admission is not limited by religious or cultural affiliation.

As a U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services five-star rated facility for care and with a complement of close to 650 compassionate, experienced clinical and allied health personnel, San Francisco Campus for Jewish Living provides seniors with a variety of life-enriching healthcare programs and services in a welcoming, stimulating environment.
