DOG CARE VOLUNTEER - Skokie Adoption Center
C.A.R.E. is a volunteer-driven organization, and we can always use more help taking care of the dogs who are awaiting adoption. Volunteers are responsible for dog care at our adoption center on weekdays, weekends and holidays. Devoting time as a Dog Care Volunteer entails giving up a few hours per week to help the animals at the adoption center. Dog Care Volunteers pick a regular weekly shift that they can adhere to consistently. At this time, we are recruiting volunteers 18 years of age and older
Dog Volunteer tasks cover the day-to-day care of the dogs at the adoption center. We have morning, evening and weekend shifts. After a brief orientation and training, these are the tasks that are performed by each volunteer:
* Cleaning and disinfecting kennels
* Walking and socializing dogs including basic obedience and documenting behavior issues
* Feeding
* Doing dishes
* Doing laundry
* Mopping floors
* Washing windows
* Taking out trash
* Volunteering at fundraisers
* Other opportunities such as Kennel Captain and Adoption Counselor are options after a probationary period
