Project CARE (community volunteers) & Project Generations (local college students) provides in-home support and companionship to residents of Tompkins County who are aged 60 and over by providing a weekly friendly visit, especially to older adults who are lonely, homebound or socially isolated. Volunteers are needed to make weekly friendly visits, provide assistance with technology, bill paying or short-term errands such as an errand, gardening, organization, special projects, or light housecleaning. Hours are based on volunteer's schedule. Volunteer commitment is 1-3 hours per week. Please complete an application at www.PCAREvolunteer.com

The mission of the Tompkins County Office for the Aging is to assist older adults and persons with long term care needs to live independently in their homes and communities with quality of life and dignity.
Description
Project CARE is a volunteer program serving frail or isolated seniors in their homes. Volunteers provide companionship, respite for caregivers, or help with household chores and errands.
The Long Term Care Ombudsmen Program is a volunteer program to advocate for residents in long term care facilities and promote change in the long term care system. Trained and certified long term care ombudsmen work with residents, families, and staff in long term care facilities in order to resolve residents' specific concerns.
