Volunteer at CTRC!

Colorado Therapeutic Riding Center (CTRC) is an accredited center with a mission to change the lives of individuals with disabilities by promoting physical, psychological and social well-being through equine assisted services.

Lesson volunteers at CTRC have the opportunity to participate as either horse leaders or side walkers in weekly therapeutic riding lessons. Horse leaders are responsible for grooming, tacking, and leading the horses, while the side walker is responsible for the rider and their safety throughout the lesson. Volunteers work with the same rider at the same time each week during our seasonal sessions, which range from 6 to 14 weeks. Volunteers may help with mucking, turn-in/turn-out, or other volunteer opportunities. It is a wonderful opportunity to experience the power horses have to help humans. And of course, it is a lot of fun too!!

New volunteers must attend an in-person New Volunteer Training. Additional Horse Handling Training is also available. We accept volunteers with no horse experience to years of experience.

Please contact the volunteer coordinator at volunteer@ctrcinc.org and/or visit www.ctrcinc.org for more details.
