Enjoy playing a musical instrument in a concert band and/or marching band. All instruments needed to expand ranks (flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, french horn, trumpet, saxophone, trombone, baritone horn, tuba, and percussion). Long Island and New York performances such at concerts, parades, and ceremonies. Music includes patriotic songs and a mixture of everything else (level 3-6). Some of the benefits of joining include meeting new people, camaraderie, patriotic service, free specialized training, community service, sales tax exemption at PX stores, access to USO lounges in major airports worldwide, becoming a part of Homeland Security. Members must be 17 years old, US citizen and pass a background check. Annual dues required ($47), and purchase of a uniform ($160+). Check out our facebook page "USCG Auxiliary Flotilla 2207 Band".

For the safety of all active members, currently participation in all rehearsals, performances and Coast Guard Auxiliary activities require participants to be vaccinated and provide evidence of vaccination on-file.

Mission Statement

The US Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 22-7 mission is to use its musical talents to support the awareness and goals U. S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and Coast Guard. The Band performs ceremonies, marches in local parades (including Manhattan); public concerts, sporting events, memorial services, and veteran appreciation events/concerts. The CG Auxiliary is the all-volunteer, uniformed, non-military branch of the US Coast Guard. It is a magnet for new young musicians to use their talent in a patriotic way. Past performances include the Intrepid Museum, St. Patrick's and Veterans Day parades on 5th Avenue in Manhattan, VA Hospital and Home concert, Change of Watch ceremonies, memorial ceremonies, Pearl Harbor remembrance ceremonies, band shell concerts, various parades on Long Island and the 5 boroughs. Ideal for ex-military musicians.

Description

The US Coast Guard Auxiliary Band Contingent of Flotilla 22-7 was formed in November 2007. We are looking for more instrumentalists to fill in our ranks. If you have a little bit of patriotism in you and want to help your country by using your musical skills on Long Island, then please come and join us. If your playing is a little rusty this is the perfect venue to get you back into playing. Also ideal for ex-military musicians to continue playing. For more information and to read about some of our events, visit our website at www.uscgauxband.org. Members must be at least 17 years old and pass a security background check. We rehearse every other Tuesday evening between 7:30 pm to 10:00 pm in the Band room at the Northport Middleville School in Northport. The Band is part of Flotilla 22-7 in Fort Salonga, NY, a local "chapter" of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary. The Coast Guard Auxiliary is a division of US Coast Guard, a branch of US Homeland Security. All members must pay annual dues of $47 and must purchase their uniform. Basic uniform is approx. $160+. Overgarments are extra. Discount uniforms available in limited sizes.
