Role Overview
As a Writing and Editorial Communication Expert, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality, accuracy, and impact of True Connection’s content. This position offers flexibility to focus on one or more areas of expertise, such as content editing, fact-checking, research, or alignment with organizational messaging. Volunteers may choose to contribute in one or multiple areas depending on their interests and skills. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about mindful communication, editorial precision, and inspiring positive change through impactful storytelling.
Key Responsibilities
Edit and proofread articles to enhance clarity, tone, grammar, and structure, ensuring all content aligns with True Connection’s mission and six pillars.
Verify the accuracy of data, references, and claims to uphold editorial integrity, cross-checking information using credible sources and ensuring proper citations.
Provide constructive feedback to writers and content creators, collaborating with the editorial team to refine and finalize articles.
Focus on specific areas of expertise if desired, such as climate communication, cultural storytelling, scientific accuracy, or mindful living messaging.
Complete assigned reviews and edits within set deadlines to meet publication schedules.
Qualifications
Experience in communication, writing, or editing with strong command of language, grammar, and storytelling techniques.
Attention to detail with the ability to catch inaccuracies or inconsistencies in text and data.
Proficiency in research, with confidence in verifying facts and using credible sources.
Strong collaborative skills and the ability to provide clear and constructive feedback.
Passion for topics related to True Connection’s six pillars and alignment with the organization’s mission.
Familiarity with digital tools for content review or a willingness to learn (e.g., Google Docs, Grammarly).

Commitment and Expectations
Time commitment is flexible, with an estimated 3-5 hours per week depending on the scope of work. Deadlines for tasks will be communicated in advance.
This is a fully remote position, and volunteers will collaborate via email and virtual meetings.
Volunteers will receive onboarding materials, including editorial guidelines, examples of past content, and access to the team for feedback and support.
