Imagine what it must feel like to be thrust into foster care. Life can be scary when it seems nobody cares; when all you have ever known is abuse, neglect or abandonment. CASA volunteers give a priceless gift: someone who really cares-someone dependable who won’t disappoint these children like so many other adults have done in the past.
If you can give 8-10 hours a month to be a CASA volunteer, WE NEED YOU!
Individual CASAs, or court-appointed special advocates, are appointed by a judge to what are oftentimes the direst cases. A CASA works with everyone who touches children’s lives, from their social worker to their doctor, examining what will best work to give that girl or boy a life path that will help them to succeed. Sometimes this is simply finding them a bed to sleep in on a reliable basis, and other times it’s working to reunite them with family.
To the WORLD you may just be ONE, but to ONE you may just be the WORLD!

About CASA of San Joaquin County
Location:

Mission Statement
CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of San Joaquin County. The CASA Program endeavors to ensure that abused, neglected and abandoned children who have become dependents of the San Joaquin County Court will have a safe and permanent home.
Description
CASA - A Powerful Voice in a Child's Life
CASA of San Joaquin County is currently recruiting community volunteers to serve as "eyes and ears" for the Court and provide a "voice" for a child; at home, in school and in the court room. CASA of San Joaquin County provides the screening, training and on-going support necessary to be successful advocates for the neediest of children in our County. The CASA volunteer provides continuity by staying on the case until it is permanently resolved. Volunteers are expected to have contact with their CASA child every week, attend court hearings as needed, and provide written reports to the court. The written reports include all interviews, visits, and assessments taken by the CASA in regard to recommendations based on the child’s very best interest. If you, or someone you know is interested in becoming a CASA volunteer please contact Trinidad Olivas-Newcomb at (209) 644-5319
