Volunteer as a pair or small group at Lincoln Place for a cooking class
ORGANIZATION: Amherst H. Wilder Foundation
Please visit the new page to apply.
Share your passion for cooking with residents at Lincoln Place! Lincoln Place provides permanent supportive housing for youth ages 18-24 in Eagan. We are seeking a small group of 2-3 volunteers to teach a special cooking topic, such as knife skills, cooking meat, stir fry recipes, or other kitchen fundamentals. Volunteers will prepare a lesson and provide an informal class/conversation around a special topic. We hear from residents that they would like to learn basics about cooking, and we welcome community members to share their experiences. Recipes and handouts welcome along with talking with residents.
Timing:The community meal and conversation can be scheduled on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday at 5pm for 1.5 hours.
Associated Donation Request: There's also the option to cater a community dinner for residents. Volunteers would setup, serve, and clean up a meal for up to 8 people. Depending upon the cooking class topic, residents may be making meals that they can then enjoy. For lessons not producing a meal on the spot, a catered meal is welcome. If you would like to incorporate a catered meal, there is a cost associated with this opportunity (typically about $75, depending on the food and group size). This meal helps to increase attendance and build community at the class. If donating a meal is a barrier and your group would still like to volunteer, please reach out to us.
