Virtual Evening ESOL Conversation Group Volunteer Needed

Assist adults as they learn English to gain employment here in Massachusetts! The volunteer will help facilitate an ESOL conversation group of 4-6 adult students on Wednesdays from 6 - 7 pm EST over Zoom. We respectfully ask volunteers to volunteer at least one shift a week and a 3-month commitment.
Program/Department Overview :
JVS Boston’s Reaching Advancement in Skills & Employment (RAISE) program provides next-step career advancement services to immigrants and r efugees who have completed an initial employment program at JVS. RAISE Career C oaches work one-on-one with participants to help them identify , map out , and work towards their career advancement goals; including education and skills training . RAISE, entering its 2nd year as a new program, has supported over 200 participants in achieving at least one education, training, or employment goal .
Responsibilities:
The volunteer will help facili tate ESOL conversation groups of 4 -6 adult students . The volunteer will occasionally t utor clients , one-on-one , in English and meet with clients to help them prepare for interviews. Our participants have a wide range of English proficiency , so the conversation groups will range from beginner to advanced. Resources and curriculum for the sessions will be provided.
Skills/Qualifications:
An orientation/training will be provided.
An interest in working with people of various linguistic, cultural, religious, ethnic, and national backgrounds.
Commitment to learning techniques for group facilitation
