Position Title: Clinic Receptionist Volunteer
Overview: Our free clinic is seeking a friendly, organized, and reliable volunteer to serve as a Clinic Receptionist. As a key member of our front desk team, you will play a vital role in welcoming patients, managing appointments, and ensuring smooth clinic operations. This is an excellent opportunity to make a positive impact in the community and gain valuable experience in a healthcare setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Greeting and Registration: Warmly welcome patients as they arrive, ensuring they are checked in promptly and accurately. Assist with completing any necessary paperwork.
Appointment Scheduling: Help manage patient appointments by scheduling, rescheduling, and confirming visits. Ensure that all necessary information is recorded accurately in the clinic’s system.
Phone Management: Answer incoming calls, direct them to appropriate staff members, and take messages when necessary. Provide basic information about clinic services and operating hours.
Maintain Front Desk Organization: Keep the reception area tidy, stocked with forms, and organized. Ensure all necessary patient information is updated and filed correctly.
Assisting with Patient Flow: Direct patients to waiting areas and inform staff of patient arrivals. Support the medical team in ensuring a smooth and efficient patient flow throughout the day.
Confidentiality: Maintain patient confidentiality at all times and follow HIPAA guidelines in all interactions.
General Administrative Support: Assist with miscellaneous administrative tasks, such as sorting mail, managing supplies, or data entry, as needed.
Qualifications:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain a positive, professional, and compassionate demeanor
- Organizational skills and attention to detail
- Basic computer proficiency, knowledge of AthenaNet and Eaglesoft is a plus, but not required.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and respect
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting is a plus, but not required
Time Commitment: Available shifts can vary, typically they are M/T/TH, 8 AM - 1PM.
Benefits: This volunteer position provides an opportunity to contribute to a meaningful cause while gaining experience in a healthcare environment. Volunteers will receive support and training.

Description
Battle Ground HealthCare (BGHC) is non-profit, free clinic, that provides medical, dental, physical rehabilitation, lifestyle classes and other healthcare services free of charge. We serve people who are uninsured, under-insured and at 300% or below the Federal Poverty Level.
BGHC believes improved health and quality of life are best achieved by meeting physical, mental, and emotional needs. BGHC is predominantly a volunteer clinic; our 200 plus volunteers include doctors, nurses, dentists, dental assistants, dental hygienist, dietitians, physical therapists, and mental health professionals. In our nine years we have cared for more than 4,000 individual patients and provided over 3,868 visits.
Battle Ground HealthCare does not charge for services or receive any federal funding for operations. The clinic is able to provide services because of the generosity of volunteer providers, grants and individual donations.
