MLK Jr. Day of Service Community Tree Care at Anacostia Park

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: National Park Service

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is a towering figure in American history, but these trees need our help to reach such lofty heights.

On January 18, join Friends of Anacostia Park and Casey Trees in celebrating King's legacy by caring for young trees! There will be plant-iful work to do, from mulching and watering to weeding the saplings so they can grow into the park's tree canopy, offering wildlife habitat and shade for visitors.

Volunteers will meet at the Anacostia Park Roller Skating Pavilion at 9:00 AM to receive tools and training from Casey Trees before branching out into work groups. Make sure to dress for rugged hands-on work and bring a water bottle!

Get yourself rooted in this special event by also registering with Casey Trees in order to receive additional details.

Together, we can speak for the trees!
