Do you take a walk regularly and notice litter? Are you interested in helping your community by reducing litter pollution throughout the year? Are you interested in volunteering with Keep Omaha Beautiful? If you answered yes to any of those questions Adopt a Spot may be the perfect opporunitiy for you!

KOB Volunteers can cover adopted areas such as: streams, trails, neighborhoods, corridors, bus stops, business campuses and more. Volunteers can be an individual or part of a group. This location is flexible and you will work with the Volunteer Manager to find a perfect match for you!

Volunteers and groups that adopt a spot are provided with litter cleanup supplies and asked to do the following:

  • Agree to an adoption commitment from March to October
  • Perform a litter cleanup at least once a month during the Adopt a Spot season
  • Submit an online reporting form to Keep Omaha Beautiful after each cleanup
  • Act as the eyes of the location, keeping an eye out for graffiti, illegal dumping, etc.
  • Optional, additional activities can include sweeping sidewalks and parking lots, raking leaves, picking up branches, etc.
  • Volunteers will also receive a certificate

Environmental Education & Outreach -- KOB conducts environmental education programming and outreach that address urban ecosystems & biodiversity, waste reduction & recycling, and water pollution prevention. We believe all Omaha youth/adults should have equitable access to high-quality environmental education that connects them to urban nature and fosters sustainable lifestyles.

Community Stewardship & Service -- KOB provides engaging and meaningful community-service opportunities throughout the city. We believe all Omaha residents should have equitable access to service-learning experiences that strengthen connections to the community and benefit the environment.

Healthy Urban Ecosystems -- KOB advocates for a sustainable community with thriving urban ecosystems. We believe all Omaha residents should have equitable access to clean, healthy, and restorative urban green spaces where nature also flourishes.
