Basketball Team Referee
ORGANIZATION: SoulPhamm Inc
Please visit the new page to apply.
SoulPhamm is looking for a "near-expert" basketball enthusiast with experience as a "referee" to join its coaching team for the SoulGentz, our high school basketball program.
The SoulGentz are being trained for external competitions and tournaments across New Jersey and New York City. During slow periods in our season, we often have the young men "play each other" in an intramural program we call "Team Crown Heights vs. Team Castle Hill". In this program, the men play each other four times a year at our home court in downtown Newark, New Jersey and for these events, the Referee will serve and ensure game flow, rule enforcement and player safety.
As the men also play informally during their weekly practice sessions, the ref would be on hand to show them errors they are making in real time, giving them an opportunity to adjust. He/she can also travel with the team as an "Assistant Coach" if they have desire to.
Practices are every Saturday from 12:45pm to 3:45pm. The "special games" are 12/21, 1/25, 3/22, 3/29 (NBA G-League) and 6/21.

Mission Statement
Our mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of young people by providing unique artistic and athletic experiences and performances, and to assist them in achieving the highest standards of professionalism through the development of discipline, skill, confidence, cooperation, leadership, responsibility and character.
Description
Our vision is to promote virtue, equity, unity, justice, faith, charity and a sense of common purpose and brotherhood among all people with an emphasis on the development and advancement of young people through education, athletics, service and the arts.
SoulPhamm was incorporated as a nonprofit organization in the state of New Jersey on June 25, 2021 and is the "birth-child" of Coach Luis ("Lou") and Dr. Leisa Herrera ("Mz. Doc"). The organization exists to provide training to young people in a variety of sports and performing arts and unique opportunities to display those talents through competition and performance. By integrating mentoring, life skills, opportunities for community service and academic enrichment to the athletic/artistic program, we help make our scholar-athletes as well-rounded as possible, capable of meeting and overcoming any challenges they are faced with. Although Coach Lou passed away suddenly in January 2021, the official launch of SoulPhamm was held on June 26, 2021, which coincided with his birthday weekend. SoulPhamm will recognize its own founding, as well as the achievements of our young people every year on the fourth Saturday of June, as a tribute to the life and legacy of Coach Lou.
