We are seeking a volunteer Webmaster to revamp our existing annual event website to make it better function in a responsive environment and meet accessibility standards for the visually impaired. You will be responsible for updating and maintaining content on our website, ensuring that it is optimized for mobile responsiveness and accessible to users with visual impairments. This role will involve making content updates, troubleshooting layout issues, and working to improve the user experience across all devices. Graphics will be provided by our volunteer marketing team. You will work closely with the Board Chair and receive ongoing support from the Volunteer Marketing and Technology Manager to meet deadlines and produce high-quality designs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Update and manage content on our website using GoDaddy's Website Builder software. We know there are other platforms out there, but this was donated to our organization.
- Ensure the website is fully responsive and optimized for mobile devices.
- Improve the accessibility of the site, including compliance with WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) to ensure a better experience for users with visual impairments.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to integrate and implement graphics, images, and other media elements into the website.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues that arise with the website's content or layout.
- Regularly review and update content to ensure it remains accurate, engaging, and aligned with the organization’s goals.
- Assist with ensuring the website's SEO is optimized to reach a broader audience.
- Collaborate with the team to implement new features or content as needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Proficiency with GoDaddy Website Builder.
- Strong understanding of website layout, design principles, and user experience best practices.
- Experience with web accessibility (e.g., screen readers, color contrast, alt text, keyboard navigation) and WCAG guidelines.
- Knowledge of web responsiveness and mobile optimization techniques.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
- Attention to detail and commitment to ensuring a high-quality user experience.
- Experience in SEO, Google Analytics, and content optimization.

Description
Every year, BGCA produces its annual fundraiser Festival of Trees. The event features expertly decorated and designed artificial holiday trees available for raffle and live auction, that will then be delivered to homes of winners (within SD County). The event also features a silent auctions, and other donation opportunities. 100% of the proceeds of this annual event benefit the San Diego LGBTQ+ community! We raised just under $23K in 2021, $40K in 2022, $46K in 2023, and $66k in 2024 for HIV/AIDS services in San Diego.
