We need YOU and your DOG!!! You and your pet will make our patients SMILE!!!
ORGANIZATION: ACG Hospice Missouri

I can't begin to tell you the pure JOY your dog can bring to the day of a patient in hospice care. Your dog should be very friendly, easygoing, well-trained and able to handle groups of people. They should also have a soft mouth ( takes treats easily) and enjoy meeting new people and getting pets from strangers. Your dog DOES need to be a certified therapy dog. We can give you more information about getting your dog certified!
These visits can be just as rewarding to you and your dog as they are to our patients. Your pup will receive A LOT of love from our patients!
The primary focus of hospice care is quality of life through comfort, dignity and understanding. Volunteers can make a difference in someone's life by simply providing pet companionship in as little as 15-45 minutes. This is a meaningful and life-changing opportunity. Some patients do not like companionship but the minute a dog or cat comes in the room it is an entirely different story. At times patients will only respond to pet visitors.
