About Operation Meraki:
Operation Meraki is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving all veterans through innovative programs that focus on workforce development, wellness, and creative therapy. We aim to empower veterans and their families as they navigate life post-service, providing the tools and resources needed to thrive.

Role Summary:
Operation Meraki is seeking a dedicated Communications Volunteer to work under the direction of our Communications Director. In this role, you will help amplify our mission and strengthen our connection with veterans, supporters, and partners. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in public relations, social media, or nonprofit communication.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Communications Director in creating and scheduling content for Operation Meraki’s social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.).
  • Assist in drafting newsletters, press releases, and other communications materials.
  • Help gather and share impactful stories from veterans and volunteers.
  • Monitor and respond to social media messages and comments, maintaining a respectful and engaging tone.
  • Assist in updating website content and ensuring consistency in messaging.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of marketing and awareness campaigns.

Qualifications:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and scheduling tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Buffer) is a plus.
  • Experience with email marketing platforms like Mailchimp or Constant Contact is a bonus.
  • Passionate about storytelling and connecting with diverse audiences.
  • Ability to take direction and collaborate effectively with the Communications Director and team members.
  • A genuine commitment to supporting veterans and their families.
