Wonderfully Me is planning for its 2nd Time of Remembrance for those drowned in Wake County Lakes and need volunteers who are interested in executing this event which will be held in May 2025.

Drownings are tragic no matter where it occurs. My focus will be in lakes because that is where my son's drowning occured in 2023. This event will allow their memories not be forgotten but also to educate our communities on the importance of water safety to prevent drownings while enjoying our beautiful lakes.

After this event, we would like you to remain to help bring awareness, to advocate and educate on drowning prevention during the 2025 summer season around our lakes.

For more questions contact, Angela White at 484-713-8254 or at wonderfullyme4ever@gmail.com.

Thank you for doing your part to stop drownings in our communities.

Mission Statement

To cultivate positive life skills to girls ages 8-14 through education, empowerment and encouragement. Being a part of the program will help them to embrace their uniqueness while making positive choices as they transform into women of character, confidence and courage.

Description

The birth of Wonderfully Me Incorporated Empowerment Program was to reach young girls earlier to develop life skills that will better equipped them to handle social pressures when they occur in school and in life. Our program officially began in October 2019 at East Ward Elementary School in Downingtown, PA. Meetings are held monthly August- May. All girls are welcome in a safe space where topics and activities are lead by volunteers and community speakers. Topics and activities are addressed that will have them to Embrace who they are, Love who they are and Succeed where they are. We shifted to a virtual program during the 2020-2021 program year due to the COVID pandemic. Answering the call from parents for more interactions from us due to the isolation from their friends, we launched a mentoring component for interested families. Because of its success, it will now become a part of the empowerment program. One thing we pride ourselves on is that we educate the parent on the skill during the first part of each session. This educates the parent but also equips them with the monthly life skill for further encouragement at home or perhaps become empowered themself.
