Church World Service Jersey City is seeking a dedicated ESL Teacher to provide online English language instruction to adult learners. The volunteer will be part of an enriching program aimed at supporting refugees on their English language learning journeys. The volunteer will use Minnesota Literacy and Ellii as the primary curricula for delivering lessons. The commitment is 3 hours per week, for 10 weeks.
Key activities:
- Facilitate online ESL lessons for adult learners twice per week (1.5 hour sessions)
- Provide individualized support to students as needed during lessons
- Use Minnesota Literacy and Ellii curricula to guide lessons (training will be provided)
- Participate in regular check-ins with the program coordinator
- Maintain a positive, supportive, and respectful learning environment
What we need:
- A passion for teaching and helping others
- Comfortable using online tools and teaching platforms
- Ability to work with a diverse group of adult learners
- Prior ESL teaching experience highly recommended
