About AAWTA
The African Women Trucking Association (AAWTA) is dedicated to empowering African women in the trucking and transportation industry through leadership development, networking opportunities, and advocacy. Our mission is to promote diversity, inclusion, and success for women in the trucking industry. We are seeking an intern to join our Community Engagement Committee (CEC) team, where you will contribute to AAWTA’s efforts in strengthening its social media presence through graphic design, video editing, and digital content creation.
Key Responsibilities
- Graphic Design: Assist in creating visually appealing graphics for AAWTA’s social media platforms, newsletters, and promotional materials.
- Video Editing: Support the team by editing videos for social media campaigns, event highlights, interviews, and member stories.
- Help create and maintain a content calendar for social media platforms, ensuring regular and engaging posts that align with AAWTA’s mission.
- Assist in creating visual content for campaigns that highlight AAWTA’s events, programs, and community initiatives.
- Collaborate with the CEC team to develop digital assets that amplify AAWTA’s advocacy work and promote women’s leadership in the trucking industry.
- Help with social media content creation and post scheduling across platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
- Monitor engagement metrics and assist in adjusting content strategies based on performance data.
- Provide support for other content-related needs within the CEC team and AAWTA, such as presentations, brochures, and digital flyers.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Graphic Design, Digital Media, Communications, or related fields.
- Proficiency in design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, After Effects, etc.) or other graphic and video editing software.
- A portfolio showcasing graphic design, video editing, and content creation skills.
Solid understanding of social media platforms, content creation trends, and engagement strategies. - Strong attention to detail, creativity, and a passion for digital storytelling.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
- Time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with motion graphics, animation, or video production is a plus.
- Familiarity with social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Buffer) and analytics platforms.
- Knowledge of or interest in the trucking and transportation industry, particularly the role of women in the field.
- Previous internship or volunteer experience in social media management, content creation, or digital marketing is a bonus but not essential.
