We are looking for someone that loves to design and can create a fun whimsical garden space for our students in our courtyard. Whether its sketched or 3d designed does not matter. This will be a fun cute area (think Alice in Wonderland or Fairy) that helps expand the imagination while providing STEM education. If this sounds like something that you would be interested in helping with please contact us. The goal would be to have this project finished in the Spring as a volunteer day.

Mission Statement

Academy for Learning and Character Development (ALCD) is a non-profit 501(c3) organization located in Huntsville, Alabama. The mission of ALCD is to provide a safe, affordable high quality child care in a developmentally appropriate environment for disadvantaged preschool and school age children.

Description

Under the leadership of ALCD founder and director Dr. Sylvia Collins, ALCD provides stimulating early care and an educational experience which promotes each child’s individual social/emotional, physical and cognitive development. Our goal is to support children’s desire to be life-long learners. ALCD assists low-income parents by providing services based on the family’s ability to pay. Children from battered homes, veterans, and homeless families are admitted into our program free of charge. We offer our services to the community so that parents can obtain meaningful careers and further their education. ALCD works to prepare economically disadvantaged students for successful school entry.
