ORGANIZATION: Emerging Markets Investors Alliance

Position Overview:

  • Fully remote role Based in the United States managing daily operations of a nonprofit focused on responsible investment in emerging markets

  • 30-40 hours per week

  • Volunteer position reporting to Executive Director

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Operational Management

  • Collaborate with the Fractional COO to align operational execution with strategic goals.

  • Manage daily operations using Asana

  • Supervise the Operational Team including the Business Operations Manager, Tech Team, HubSpot CRM Team, and Communications Director.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve operational challenges

  1. Process Optimization

  • Create and improve processes, policies, and standard operating procedures

  • Collaborate with operations team to implement workflow improvements

  1. Team Leadership

  • Lead remote team of staff and volunteers

  • Provide mentorship and clear task delegation

  • Foster collaborative work environment

  1. Project Management

  • Oversee key projects, including certification project

  • Ensure project milestones are met on time and within scope

  • Collaborate with program directors, IT team, Marketing & Communications team & fundraising team

Desired Qualifications:

  • Operations management experience, preferably in the nonprofit sector

  • Proficient in Asana and CRM (Hubspot) systems

  • Strong leadership skills, particularly in managing remote teams of paid staff and volunteers.

  • Ability to create and implement processes

  • Exceptional problem-solving ability with skill in:

  • Anticipating potential process gaps

  • Proactively identifying and resolving operational challenges

  • Developing innovative solutions to complex operational issues

  • Passion for sustainable development in emerging markets

Mission Statement

The Emerging Markets Investors Alliance (www.eminvestorsalliance.org) enables institutional investors to support good governance, promote sustainable development, and improve investment performance in the governments and companies in which they invest.

Description

Issue Focus: The Alliance focuses on ensuring that (1) government revenues are used to deliver public services to citizens rather than siphoned off by corruption and (2) corporate practices meet high standards for anti-corruption, human rights and animal welfare, and environmental sustainability. In particular, the Alliance has the following work streams: (1) government debt and fiscal governance, (2) oil & mining sector, (3) agricultural sector, and (5) environmental/social/governance (ESG) integration into the investment process.

Activities: The Alliance’s primary activities include (1) organizing educational events for investors, (2) producing research on ESG issues, and (3) organizing forums where investors and policy experts can engage with corporate or government officials.
