Mission Statement

bout City Men Cook/A Taste of the South Charities, Inc. A Taste of the South Charities, Inc., is a Dallas-based 501(c)(3) organization, with a mission to showcase thought leadership for men and their relationships to their families thereby reinventing how Father’s Day is celebrated. Now entering its 25th year, its premiere event, City Men Cook, has become a tradition as the largest and longest-running national Father’s Day celebration of its kind in North Texas. We empower Fatherhood Leadership AND mentoring.

Description

City Men Cook knows the difference a man can make in his family and community, in which they want to help men reach that potential and give families an opportunity to celebrate those great men. They’re dedicated to giving back to the community through fundraising and mentoring opportunities. For more than 25 years, Terry Allen has organized a Father’s Day celebration in Dallas, with food prepared by men! Thousands of people flock to the event and celebrate the great men in their lives. This is event has been the #1 Nielsen-rated event delivering an audience of 240,000 and a publicity value of $143,000.00 every year for Father’s Day weekend with over 10.2 million impressions over all forms of media. Men in the community cook some of their best old-fashioned recipes to serve on Father’s Day as a fundraiser for several area charities including March of Dimes, Azar Foundation, African American Museum and Mothers Opposing Bullying, a nonprofit dedicated to the eradication of bullying. City Men Cook is a collaborative movement. Our reinvestment in young men and women is fulfilled through our signature event, community mentoring events and activities, education and empowerment.
