A hospice volunteer is someone who wishes to make a difference in the lives of the terminally ill by contributing directly or indirectly to the services provided by hospice care. Volunteers provide emotional support and practical assisstance that enhances the comfort and quality of life for patients, their families, and loved ones. These services can include being available for companionship, listening or simply "being there" for the patient, as well as running errands and preparing meals.
Hospice volunteers often say their experience is personally rewarding and emotionally meanignful to help those in need at a critical point in their lives. Your volunteer work is significant and can make a positive impact in the quality of others' lives.
As a hospice volunteer, you may be asked to:
- Listen and support the patient and family
- Read or sit with a patient for short periods of time
- Prepare meals
- Write letters
- Observe and report to the hospice care team
- Run errands
- Act as a liason between hospice staff, the patient, and family
- Check on patients and family by telephone
- Assist with clerical office tasks
- Support community events like educal=tional offerings, health fairs, and fundraising

- Driver's License Needed
- Background Check
- Must be at least 14

- The time commitment of our volunteers is completely dependent on the volunteer's availability. You can make your own schedule!
- We will provide a background check, so all we need from you is a valid driver's license, social security number, and a current auto insurance card. A drug test and tuberculosis test will be conducted. Volunteers <18 require an adult chaperone.
