ORGANIZATION: VICTORY AFGHANISTAN

We are in the initial stage of establishing a structured mental health support system for our students and are actively seeking volunteer talk therapists and counselors to join us on this crucial journey.

This initiative supports our students who have endured isolation and anxiety under a restrictive political regime. We are seeking compassionate, qualified therapists willing to volunteer their time to support the mental health of these young women. As we assess interest and onboard therapists, we will refine details such as volunteer hours and session formats.

Many of our students experience long-term isolation, anxiety, hopelessness, and the emotional burden of being confined to their homes. As a volunteer therapist, you would provide talk therapy or counseling services, helping them process their experiences and find hope and stability.

Why This Matters
The UN Women report, "Resolve of Afghan Women in the Face of Erasure: Three Years Since the Political Takeover"(August 2024), highlights the mental health challenges Afghan girls face, including isolation, anxiety, and self-harm. Your sessions can make a profound difference in their lives.

Who We’re Looking For
We are seeking qualified mental health professionals with backgrounds in talk therapy, counseling, or related fields. You should be empathetic, patient, culturally sensitive, and passionate about mental health advocacy and humanitarian work.

Mission Statement

Victory Afghanistan's mission is to bridge the educational gap and create remote learning opportunities for girls in Afghanistan, offering them a path to continue their education despite the barriers they face. Victory Afghanistan stands firm and determined that no girl is left behind in her pursuit of knowledge and education. Through our interactive remote English, and mentoring classes, our aim is to equip these young women full of potential with the language and life skills to build the foundation needed to unlock a world of online education and remote work opportunities.

Description

In September 2021, girls in Afghanistan above the 6th grade were banned from attending school. According to UNICEF, 80% of Afghan girls and young women, approximately 2.5 million individuals, are now out of school, with nearly 30% never having had the opportunity to begin primary education. This situation has confined many to a life of domesticity, robbing them of the chance to reach their full potential.

In response to two years of learning loss and the increasing isolation of women and girls in Afghanistan, a group of four Afghan women from around the world founded Victory Afghanistan in July 2023
