We are looking for caring and enthusiastic volunteers to provide childcare while parents participate in ESL courses. Volunteers will engage children in a dedicated room equipped with toys and supplies. This is a wonderful opportunity to support families as they work toward self-sufficiency and integration. Volunteers should enjoy working with children and be committed to creating a safe, welcoming environment. Background checks are required for all participants. By offering your time, you’ll help parents focus on learning while ensuring their children are well cared for in a positive space. Tuesday and Thursday evenings for approximately 1 to 1.5 hours each day, January through March.

This program focuses on providing vital services to individuals and families who have been displaced by conflict, persecution, or other challenging circumstances. Key areas of assistance include:
- Resettlement Support: Helping newcomers with housing, employment, and access to essential community services.
- Cultural Orientation: Offering programs that help refugees understand local customs, laws, and resources to ease their transition into American life.
- Education and Employment: Supporting English language learning, vocational training, and job placement to promote self-sufficiency.
- Advocacy and Community Engagement: Building partnerships within the community to foster inclusion and advocate for policies that support immigrant populations.
LSC is committed to promoting dignity and independence for every individual they serve, guided by compassion and a mission of welcoming the stranger. The program is part of Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service (LIRS), one of the leading national organizations supporting refugee resettlement in the United States.
