Be the bridge between NorthStar and the local community! As a Community Engagement Volunteer, you’ll:

  • Share programming updates with local businesses and organizations.
  • Represent NorthStar at community events and distribute flyers.
  • Build relationships to strengthen NorthStar’s presence in the area.

This is a great fit for outgoing individuals who are passionate about connecting with people and building community. Much of the work will be remote, making phone calls and email correspondence, with tabling at local events in Durham on a flexible schedule.

Description

NorthStar Church of the Arts is a multidisciplinary community arts org and presenter in Durham NC. Founded by legendary musician Nnenna Freelon and her husband, renowned architect Phil Freelon, NorthStar is a community hub that supports art as a tool for healing and building community power. We offer music and performance art, movement workshops, visual art exhibitions, community events, and a monthly Sunday Service. We focus on uplifting working class, BIPOC, and LGBTQ+ stories to enhance the cultural landscape of Durham and ensure safe community space for marginalized people.
