ORGANIZATION: Regency SouthernCare - Moultrie

Hospice is often a scary word but there is so much hope to be found in hospice and all it provides. One of the amazing ways we serve our patients, and their families, is through our volunteer program

Regency Southerncare Hospice serves and provides care for terminally ill patients and their families throughout Colquitt County and surrounding counties. This includes, but is not limited to, Ben Hill, Irwin, Berrien, Lanier, Lowndes, Brooks, Thomas, Mitchell, Cook, Tift, Worth, Turner, Lee, and Dougherty counties. As we care for people throughout Southern GA, there is a good chance we are caring for someone right out your back door.

A Vigil Volunteer provides a supportive presence for the patient and or family in the patient’s projected final hours of life. Support can be provided to patients who have no family to be with them or to provide support and guidance to family abd caregivers, heping to relieve the unknown.

Support may include:

-Providing a calm presence

-Talking and listening to the family/caregivers, or even sharing silence

-Reading a comforting poem, prayer, or scripture

-Listening to soothing music

-Sitting quietly at patient’s bedside
