Project Leaders: Help at a Thanksgiving Feast for 500 People!

Seeds of Hope is partnering with St. Athanasius Episcopal Church and St. Paul's Commons to host a free Thanksgiving feast for 500 people in Echo Park, and we need your help! Become a Project Leader today to help us in making this a wonderful, fun celebration!

Why: By volunteering to help with the Thanksgiving feast, you'll be providing a warm, nourishing meal to individuals and families in need, offering comfort and community as we celebrate with gratitude. Your time and support will help create a welcoming space where everyone can share a meal, connect, and feel cared for, making a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need it most.

Who: Seeds of Hope is a ministry of the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles which seeks to Cultivate Wellness in our community. They provide garden-based nutrition education and practical cooking instruction to help their friends and neighbors live healthier. They also work with congregations, communities, and schools to transform unused land in to productive, lovely gardens and orchards to provide fresh and nutritious food in areas of need across the six-county diocese.

What to Expect: Seeds of Hope will be serving meals on Thanksgiving Day with multiple Project Leader shifts you can sign up for below. Each shift is just 2 hours so that you can help and also enjoy your own celebrations! In general, Project Leaders may be asked to do the following:

Help prepare the room and tables for the feast!

Lead volunteers in keeping the room and tables clean.

Check on volunteers to make sure they understand their role for the day.

Guide guests to their seats.

Bus tables, serve food, and be gravy runners.

Keep water jugs filled.

Ensure volunteers are working safely, efficiently, and are having fun!

All project leaders will receive training the day of.

No experience is necessary!

Water will be provided.

What's Required:

Dress comfortably (aprons will be provided)

No experience necessary! All skills and abilities are welcome.

Masks, gloves, and hand sanitizer will be provided. Please be mindful that we'll be spending time with community members who may have health vulnerabilities. If you have a fever or test positive for COVID, please stay home.

Must be comfortable with hands-on physical work (i.e. moving throughout the event, bringing meals to guests, wiping down tables, etc).
