ORGANIZATION: U.S. Army Corps of Engineers

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is currently seeking volunteers to fill the North Tailwater Custodian Volunteer position for the 2025 Spring/Summer recreation season at Lake Red Rock in Knoxville, Iowa. Join our awesome team of 60 workcampers and enjoy scenic views and quiet living at Iowa’s largest lake. A free, full-service campsite at Howell Station Campground is provided in exchange for service averaging approximately 20-24 hours per week.

Service will be provided 4 or 5 days/week with Thursdays, Fridays and every other Saturday off.

North Tailwater is a popular day use area located below the Lake Red Rock dam adjacent to Howell Station campground. It features two picnic shelters, a modern restroom, a playground, roadside picnic spots and a fish cleaning station. A paved trail connects the area to Howell Station and North Overlook campgrounds.

A utility vehicle will be provided to perform work duties, and the volunteer will be reimbursed for any travel by personal vehicle as required to perform service. All training, equipment, supplies, and uniforms will be provided
