About the Role:
The Virtual Mental Health Services Professional Mentor working in the Programs Department will mainly focus on mentoring and guiding our mental health staff and interns. The Professional Mentor's expertise in mental health, counseling, and supportive services will empower the staff and interns to provide compassionate care and support to our community. Encouraging resilience, empathy, and professional growth, the Professional Mentor will contribute to our mission of restoring hope and well-being.
Responsibilities:
Mentorship and Skill Development: Responsible for providing personalized mentoring to mental health professionals, and sharing insights on evidence-based practices, therapeutics, and self-care. Guide staff, interns, and mental health professionals in handling complex client cases.
Client-Centered Approach: Emphasize trauma-informed care, active listening, and cultural sensitivity while also helping staff build strong therapeutic relationships with clients.
Case Management Collaboration: Work closely with case managers to discuss holistic needs, and assist in coordinating services for clients with mental health challenges.
Ethical Practices: Reinforce ethical standards in confidentiality, boundaries, and professional conduct while discussing self-awareness and countertransference.
Professional Development: Encourage staff, interns, and mental health professionals to continue learning, educating, and self-reflecting. Responsible for sharing resources related to mental health research and best practices.
Collaboration: Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings while also encouraging a supportive environment for mental health professionals.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related studies
- 3-5+ years experience as a therapist, social worker, case manager, or other related field.
- Must possess a valid license in the state of California as a mental health supervisor/clinician (MFT, LCSW, Ph.D.) and active registration with the California Board of Behavioral Science
Experience in individual and group therapy with knowledge of mental health assessment tools.
Effective Communication Skills: Ability to provide constructive feedback and encourage, and be an active listener who promotes reflective practice.
Time Commitment:
- 1-year minimum
5 hrs./week including mandatory meetings
Must be able to attend the following weekly meetings:
All Staff Weekly Meetings: Tuesdays 9 AM - 10 AM PST
Programs Department Weekly Meetings: 10:30 AM - 2:30 PM PST (with an hour lunch between 12 PM - 1 PM)
