Job Description:

A medical imaging technologist is a healthcare professional who operates imaging equipment to create detailed images of the body for diagnostic purposes. They work closely with radiologists and other healthcare providers to help diagnose and monitor medical conditions. Specializations may include X-ray, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), ultrasound, or nuclear medicine.

Start date: January 6, 2025

Time commitment: 2 to 6 hours per week

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and position patients for imaging procedures while ensuring their safety and comfort.
  • Operate imaging equipment, such as X-rays, CT scanners, MRI machines, or ultrasound devices.
  • Follow established protocols to capture high-quality diagnostic images.
  • Evaluate images for clarity and accuracy before submitting them for interpretation.
  • Maintain and calibrate imaging equipment to ensure proper functioning.
  • Adhere to radiation safety and infection control guidelines to protect patients and staff.
  • Document patient information and procedures in compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Provide support and explanations to patients regarding the imaging process

Required Qualifications:

  • Diploma or degree in medical imaging, radiologic technology, or a related field.
  • Certification by a recognized professional body, such as the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT).
  • State or provincial licensure, if required.
  • Clinical training or internships during the educational program.
  • Advanced certifications in specialized imaging modalities (e.g., MRI, CT, or nuclear medicine).
  • Knowledge of human anatomy, medical terminology, and imaging techniques.
  • Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting advanced imaging equipment.
  • Physical stamina to assist with patient positioning and handling equipment.
  • Attention to detail to ensure image quality and accuracy.
