Recruiting Organization: Humankind LA
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Humankind LA, formed in 2022, is a non-profit organization that serves the unhoused and adjacent communities in and around Westlake. We recently built the first non-profit Homeless Help Desk in LA, located in MacArthur Park, where we honor our resilient and brave clients by partnering with them to secure housing and set and work toward their goals. Our transformational help desk serves as a fixed point of connection for the many unhoused individuals who do not camp in a set location and, as a result, are not consistently connected to critical support and services. In our innovative space, we do the following: advocate for clients in social services and health settings; provide food and supplies; store valuable documents for safekeeping; facilitate client reconnection and communication with family members; refer people to recovery programs and other resources; offer a safe and quiet place that provides a break from the street; and continue to encourage hope and engagement in everyone moving through this busy area.
