Purpose of this Project:

The purpose of the Senior Companion Program is to provide companionship and support to seniors within our community. As a volunteer in this role, you will contribute to enhancing the quality of life for seniors by engaging in meaningful interactions and fostering companionship.

Role Description:

As a Senior Companion Program volunteer, your role will involve spending quality time with seniors, providing social interaction, and offering companionship. You will participate in various activities aimed at promoting emotional well-being and reducing isolation among elderly individuals.

Work Activities:

  1. Engaging in conversations and friendly interactions with seniors.
  2. Participating in activities such as games, crafts, reading, or outings based on the preferences

of the seniors.

  1. Providing emotional support and a listening ear to seniors who may want to share their stories or concerns.
  2. Assisting with light tasks or activities if needed and as appropriate.
  3. Accompanying seniors on short walks or outings within safe environments.
  4. Respecting and honoring the preferences and boundaries of the seniors.

Skills & Qualifications:

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  1. Compassion and empathy toward the elderly.
  2. Good communication skills and an ability to actively listen.
  3. Patience and understanding when engaging with seniors.
  4. Respect for diverse backgrounds and individual preferences.
  5. Reliability and a commitment to scheduled volunteer hours.
  6. Previous experience in caregiving or working with seniors is appreciated but not mandatory.

Orientation & Training:

Before starting your volunteer work in the Senior Companion Program, you will receive an orientation session introducing you to the program's guidelines, best practices for interacting with seniors, and safety protocols.

Project Start Date:

The project's start date will be communicated to you by the organization coordinating the volunteer program. Typically, volunteers can begin their service once the orientation and necessary background checks are completed.

Materials to Bring:

  1. A warm and caring demeanor.
  2. A willingness to engage and connect with seniors.
  3. Any specific materials for activities (books, games, puzzles, etc.) you may want to bring

for shared enjoyment.
