About Honoring Resilience

Location:

2929 35th Street, Suite 5872, Sacramento, CA 95817, US

Mission Statement

Through collaboration with those most affected, Honoring Resilience creates trauma responsive environments where everyone has the opportunity to heal and thrive. We empower community members with information and strategies to mitigate Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and address persistent cycles of intergenerational trauma.

Description

Honoring Resilience was founded to empower systems-impacted individuals by addressing the intergenerational effects of trauma. Rooted in lived experience and professional expertise, our organization focuses on breaking cycles of trauma and incarceration through education, healing and resilience-building. Guided by trauma-informed care principles, Honoring Resilience provides innovative programs for incarcerated individuals and community members.

Our flagship trauma-informed education program is a 12-week curriculum for incarcerated individuals, offering tools to understand and address the effects of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), build resilience and learn self-healing practices. The program includes facilitator training to cultivate peer leaders, ensuring sustainability within correctional facilities.

Beyond individual programs, Honoring Resilience collaborates with nonprofits and community organizations to provide reentry resources and empower families with incarcerated loved ones. Together, we aim to reduce childhood trauma and incarceration rates, fostering a foundation for lasting community resilience.
