As a Direct Patient Volunteer, you will provide compassionate support to patients and families during one of life's most meaningful journeys. Your role involves offering emotional companionship, comfort and non-medical assistance to individuals facing terminal illnesses.
Key responsibilities:
- Spend time with the patients by reading, talking, or simply being a comforting presence
- Engage in light activities such as playing cards, playing music, doing crafts or sharing hobbies
- Provide brief respite for family caregivers, allowing them to take breaks
- Assist with small, practical tasks like organizing or writing letters
Qualifications:
- A caring heart, good listening skills and a reliable commitment to scheduled visits
- Willingness to complete required training to understand hospice philosophy and care
- Must respect confidentiality and boundaries while being emotionally present
Time Commitment:
Typically, volunteers commit a few hours per week, with schedules customized to meet your availability and patient needs.
