As a Direct Patient Volunteer, you will provide compassionate support to patients and families during one of life's most meaningful journeys. Your role involves offering emotional companionship, comfort and non-medical assistance to individuals facing terminal illnesses.

Key responsibilities:

  • Spend time with the patients by reading, talking, or simply being a comforting presence
  • Engage in light activities such as playing cards, playing music, doing crafts or sharing hobbies
  • Provide brief respite for family caregivers, allowing them to take breaks
  • Assist with small, practical tasks like organizing or writing letters

Qualifications:

  • A caring heart, good listening skills and a reliable commitment to scheduled visits
  • Willingness to complete required training to understand hospice philosophy and care
  • Must respect confidentiality and boundaries while being emotionally present

Time Commitment:

Typically, volunteers commit a few hours per week, with schedules customized to meet your availability and patient needs. This is a unique opportunity to make a profound difference in the lives of others, providing comfort and dignity during a critical time. No medical skills are required - just your presence and willingness to care.

Join our team and help create moments of connection and compassion in hospice care.
