Commitment: Part-Time Volunteer Position (5-10 hours per week)

Role Overview:

The JJ Center Inc. is seeking a reliable and compassionate volunteer to assist with our food pantry operations. This role focuses on picking up donated food from various locations and delivering it back to our pantry in Ward 8 of Washington, DC. Your dedication will ensure we can continue providing essential nutritional support to low-income families in our community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely drive a designated vehicle to pick up food donations from designated locations.
  • Load and unload food items with care, ensuring proper handling and freshness.
  • Follow established routes and schedules for efficient food pickup and delivery.
  • Maintain accurate records of food pickups, including quantities and locations.
  • Report any issues to the Food Pantry Manager.
  • May assist with unloading and organizing donations upon arrival (optional).

Qualifications:

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record preferred.
  • Ability to operate a vehicle safely and navigate unfamiliar routes.
  • Good physical condition, able to lift and carry moderately heavy boxes (up to 40 lbs).
  • Strong sense of responsibility and commitment to timely deliveries.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Compassion for those facing food insecurity.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
