Bell-ringing involves standing at a red kettle outside of stores, ringing a bell, and greeting people as they enter and exit to encourage donations. There’s also a possibility that if someone is musical (plays an instrument) they could play their instrument instead of ringing the bell. All of the funds we raise from bell-ringing go towards funding our programs for the following year that we offer to the community (such as our food pantry and utility assistance).
Shifts are two hours long but can be stacked if more time is desired.

Description
The Salvation Army was founded in 1865 by William Booth out of a desire to make church available to the outcasts and downtrodden of society that were not welcome elsewhere. While his main goal was always to share the good news of Jesus Christ, he recognized that people would be unable to fully understand their need for Christ while their basic necessities were not met and thus church and social services were brought together in the organization.
At The Salvation Army of Flagstaff we are a church that offers a food pantry, utility assistance, rent assistance when available, camp programming for children, and our Angel Tree program to help families in need receive gifts for their children.
